Josefina Boston (b. Stockholm) is a contemporary fine art painter and conceptual artist whose practice investigates human resilience at the intersection of raw instinct and structural restraint. Her return to the canvas, following a profound personal and creative hiatus, has opened into a period of expansion, translating grief and liberation into a visual vernacular increasingly drawn toward the wild as its truest register.

The Figures, Boston's ongoing iconographic study developed over decades, are universal, non-specific paintings that serve as a palimpsest of the human condition. Increasingly, the human figure gives way to the animal: a creature form carrying an instinct civilisation has trained out of the human body, still fluent in a language people are taught to forget.
